چکیده

conomic pressures are dispersing machine intelligence away E from centralized computers toward distributed Fieldbus devices. Simultaneously, the control concept is being extended to include other operational factors such as quality assurance, process data management, just-in-time maintenance, and plant safety and availability. As credible sensing and actuation are essential prerequisites for advanced control, validation of the sensor and actuator interface is necessary. As such subsystems are linked to a range of different overall plant systems, we must consider generic validation and its reporting to the “next level up.” This article discusses validation features which are best embedded in local devices.

Robust Control of a Quadrotor in the Presence of Actuators' Failure

Today, robots and unmanned aerial vehicles are being used extensively in modern societies. Due to a wide range of applications, it has attracted much attention among scientists over the past decades. This paper deals with the problem of the stability of a four-rotor flying robot called quadrotor, which is an under-actuated system, in the presence of operator or sensor failures. The dynamica...

Active Vibration Suppression of a Nonlinear Flexible Spacecraft

In this article, the issue of attitude control and active vibration suppression of a nonlinear flexible spacecraft is assessed through piezoelectric patches as actuator and sensors. Two controller loops are applied: the inner loop, to make the panel vibration damped through piezoelectric patches; and the outer loop, to perform spacecraft maneuver using the reaction wheel acting on the hub. An o...

Integrated IPMC/PVDF sensory actuator and its validation in feedback control

Position and/or force feedback is critical in ensuring precise and safe operation of ionic polymer–metal composite (IPMC) actuators in io/micromanipulation. In this paper the design of an integrated sensory actuator is presented, where polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) films re used to provide simultaneous feedback of bending and force outputs of the IPMC actuator. The design adopts differential c...

A Disturbance Rejection Approach to Actuator and Sensor Placement

For various reasons as discussed for instance in [1], the selection of actuator and sensor positions is still ad hoc. This is especially true for exible structures where many candidate con gurations can exist. This study is an attempt to make the selection process more methodical. One approach to actuator and sensor placement is to optimize a closed loop performance metric directly by selecting...

A Simple Approach for Determination of Actuator and Sensor Locations in Smart Structures Subjected To the Dynamic Loads

The present work demonstrates the successful application of a simple active vibration control procedure based on structural dynamics. Based on mathematical and structural dynamics’ theories, the appropriate locations of sensor and actuator locations of the smart structure are predicted. Also, the optimum value of actuator force which controls the structural vibrations as quickly as it is possib...
